Al (Alan) Geoffrey Pitcher (born 28 March 1972) is a New Zealand stand-up comedian who lives and works in Sweden. The pitcher was raised in Huddersfield, England but grew up in New Zealand. He resides in Stockholm with his partner Anita Pitcher, and the couple has two children. He was a student at John Paul College in Rotorua, New Zealand. He began his stand-up comedy career in 1999 when he reached the top on so you Think You’re Funny. Since then, he’s appeared on the finals of “The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Awards,” and was a stand-up comedian for the BBC, and has performed at the country’s most prestigious stand-up clubs. Pitcher made his Swedish stand-up debut in 2009, and that same year, he won the category for Best Show award at the Leicester Comedy Festival as well as the Director’s Pick 2009 At The Newcastle Comedy festival as well as the Peoples Choice Award 2009 by Time Out Sydney.
Since February of this year, He has been working for Comedy Central LIVE with stand-up and was awarded the title of the stand-up male of the year by Svenska stand-up-galan. He wrote the funny book Begravda Elefante which was published by the Swedish publishing house SVT in Swedish in 2012 and later translated into English and translated by Mattias Bostrom and Christina Hammarstrom. The year 2013 saw him as a guest on the TV show Settman pa plats on SVT for a number of episodes. He was also a guest on the Swedish talk show Robins many times between 2009 and 2017.
